Misconception 1 - Bathing is not recommended after cataract surgery and this can cause problems in summer
The actual situation is that after any operation there is no problem if you take a bath like you do below the neck. Due to this we can perform this surgery in any season only the patient and his family members should take proper care
Misconception 2 - This surgery should be avoided as chances of infection are high during monsoons.
The actual situation is that the surgery that is done now is done in an operation theater with an air-conditioned environment inside. So chances of infection are very less. This means that the outdoor season has no effect on this operation. If proper care is taken, the rate of infection can be one in one lakh cases.
Misconception 3 - Cataracts can be operated only after they have matured.
The real situation is that earlier when the technology of surgery was not so developed, doctors used to stop at the full peak of cataract. Now that advanced surgical technology has been developed, cataract surgery can be performed as soon as the cataract begins to disrupt your normal life. A simple test for this is to consult your doctor if you have trouble seeing through your glasses.
Misconception 4 - Instillation of eye drops will dissolve metu cataracts and surgery will not be required
Surgery is the only effective treatment for cataracts currently available.
Misconception 5 - After cataract surgery, it takes several months to get back to normal and this has a major impact on daily activities
Currently, cataract surgery is performed with highly advanced technology that takes one day. The patient can go home on the same day. After that in three-four days we can resume our daily work. It takes 10 to 15 days to join the proper work
Misconception 6 - Many people think that vision loss is normal with age and there is no need for cataract surgery.
The truth is that if you go to the doctor on time and take his advice, if surgery is done, your vision can be normal. Failure to do so may lead to adverse effects on your eyes.
Myth 7 - Cataract surgery is dangerous for patients with high blood pressure or diabetes
The truth is that high blood pressure and diabetes are fully controlled with the help of a doctor before undergoing cataract surgery.
